The driver did not have a license BUT was NOT detained
a PASSENGER WAS allowed to drive the car away = Why ???
this is when a phone call was made
by the police to a woman who the occupants said owned the car -
the woman police spoke with
said she told police she owned the car and she knew the men in the car
and they had her permission to drive it
She also said she knew she was reported missing
BUT was of age and did not want to discuss that situation
after being told to call the car owner by men who were driving her car ???????
and the police NEVER Let Kristi's Mother, sister or father
hear the phone call so they could Identify the voice

filed in March of 2012 with Sacramento County California,
the SCSO stated they closed the case
based on Placer County Sheriffs office phone conversation
( NOT an in person interview ) with an unidentifiable girl
who claimed to be the missing Kristi Merrill via the telephone call
The phone did not belong to Kristi Merrill.
Law Enforcement never made personal contact with the by then
over 3 weeks, missing Kristi and stated
their case load was so high they "refused" to pursue the case
due to the phone call by Placer County Sheriffs.
